As a marketer, Lopez quickly learned that small business owners dreaded social media. “It’s technology, and it’s always changing,” Lopez says, citing the defunct live-streaming platform Meerkat as an example of something that was popular in 2015 but not everyone remembers now. “If you’re not immersed, it’s hard to keep up with how all the social platforms work.”
Lopez emphasizes how this creates an opportunity for you. “The secret to making money is becoming valuable,” explains Lopez. “Even knowing how Facebook and Google work is crucial for a small business. They will happily pay you forever if you can improve their bottom line.

Lopez estimates that the average client pays you $1,500 a month, even if you work part-time. Five clients conservatively earn $9,000 per month. That’s a six-figure deal.

“Start marketing yourself,” Lopez explains. His viral YouTube video “Here in My Garage” was viewed billions of times and was filmed with just an iPhone, “but it convinced people that I was a capable marketer.”
Social media marketing is a “frontloading” business model, meaning you put in a lot of work in the beginning. (This is a “treadmill business” in reverse: If you don’t show up for work, your income goes to zero.)

Lopez recommends focusing on attracting high-value clients like doctors, lawyers, and dentists because they won’t mind paying you.
“If you know how to help a dentist, it’s easy to duplicate and get consistent results for other dentists,” Lopez explains. “You avoid the death trap of trading time for cash and build more predictable income streams from multiple moves.”
“Consumers want different things, and some always want the ‘luxury package,'” says Lopez. “If you only have one price, you’ll lose customers who want additional services.”
Instead, Lopez recommends creating four packages: $997, $1,997, $4,997 and $9,997. This way you have basic service and VIP option. The difference is in the amount and type of work you do.

For $997, you can optimize a client’s website to capture a person’s email address. Create a simple email marketing funnel – a very valuable asset – to nurture the relationship.
For $1,997, you can manage all of a client’s social media accounts and create stories that build their brand. For more expensive packages you can add paid advertising.
“For $9,997, you can provide the same services as the $1,997 package, but invest $4,000 in Google and Facebook ads,” Lopez says. “You’ll keep $4,000 in profit, which is a 50 percent margin.”
“The best way to get clients is through friends, family and referrals. “If someone has never worked with you, they will hire you as risk averse,” explains Lopez, who believes in avoiding accepting money in the first place.

“Conduct a free assessment of their website and social accounts using a pre-made template. Then you can confidently say, “What are you doing, how can I improve you.”

Lopez quickly gained over a million Snapchat followers. To the casual observer, he’s sharing his fun lifestyle with models, supercars and cool friends. But there is still more to do.
“My definition of branding is making a company interesting,” says Lopez. “One of my first students, Jayden Gross, was making over $100,000 a month at the age of 22 with his social media marketing agency. He told me the most valuable thing I taught him was how to write a “brand story”.

Instead of traditional sales-driven marketing, Lopez recommends creating an entertaining, engaging, backstory and adventure story that continues daily. “It’s like an ongoing commercial that keeps people engaged and coming back to see it every day.”
“Become a master at telling your client’s story,” adds Lopez. “Start by recording a simple video [about her story] for her website.”
“To get the reward you want, you have to earn it,” Lopez says. “You have to prove to your customers that you’re making money. So use tools like Hootsuite to track your marketing efforts and show results.
Lopez emphasizes the importance of being an Army general who builds a team to do weightlifting. “You need at least one personal or virtual assistant and an accountant to manage day-to-day operations and your money.”
