The rosary is a centuries-old prayer based in meditation on the life of Jesus the Messiah. The prayers of the rosary must be said while considering special moments in the life of Jesus the Messiah. So, the string is not just “return void”. But like the 150 psalms that inspired the original 150 prayers of the rosary, the rosary provides a way for the universal Church to invite regularly in the hope of God, through the intercession of Mary, the Mother of God.
There are four different “sets” of the mysteries of the Rosary, usually prayed on different days (Sunday and Wednesday – the Glorious Mysteries, Monday and Saturday – the Joyful Mysteries, Tuesday and Friday – the Sorrowful Mysteries, Thursday – the Clear Secrets). Each of these mysteries is based on the scriptures.

The string consists of 5 decades, that is, 5 sets of 10 knots/beads, forming a circle.

To pray the first decade, begin the large central knot after the opening prayers and the “Our Father” prayer.
Repeat this pattern of one Our Father, ten Hail Marys, one glory prayer, and one Fatima prayer until you have completed the five decades of a complete prayer rosary.
