BBA aims to increase economic equity in Black-owned businesses and provide them with resources to thrive as entrepreneurs and business leaders. Black entrepreneurs have less access to capital, education and growth opportunities. They are also underrepresented in stores. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, only 6 percent of U.S. retail businesses are black-owned, although black Americans represent 14 percent of U.S. adults.

Black owned businesses have also been disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration. That’s why we’re committing $150 million over the next four years to help thousands of black-owned businesses reach hundreds of millions of customers and become successful sellers on Amazon. Third-party sellers on Amazon (almost all small and medium businesses) represent around 60% of product sales in our store and are poised to see record sales growth in 2020. We want more black-owned businesses to enjoy this success.
