Kinetic Business offers world-class broadband and managed solutions in 18 regions. The company launched a Black Business Support Fund in 2020, giving a total of $300,000 in grant money through the program.

“When we launched this fund, the pandemic had a negative impact on black-owned businesses across the country, so the grants kept the doors open for our neighbors’ businesses,” said Lorenzo Clark, Kinetic’s vice president of digital marketing. and chairman of the Windstream Black Professional Networking Committee. “Now that things have stabilized a bit, these grants help grow businesses that are often underfunded.”

“It’s so exciting to be the kind of partner that not only supports other businesses in our service area, but also lifts the entire community up so everyone can succeed and pursue their dreams,” Clark said.

Amazon’s new Black Business Accelerator provides access to financing, business guidance, training and marketing support to help black businesses succeed as sellers in the Amazon store. provides. .

Amazon is launching a Black Business Accelerator (BBA) to help create sustainable equity and growth for black-owned businesses. Openly addressing the barriers to access, opportunity and advancement of organized racism in America, the initiative was created in collaboration with our Black Workers Organization and a coalition of good partners.

Challenges Women Entrepreneurs Face

BBA aims to increase economic equity in Black-owned businesses and provide them with resources to thrive as entrepreneurs and business leaders. We invite black businesses to explore and participate in this program that provides financial support, business training and mentoring, marketing and promotion of their brands and products as third-party vendors in our store.

Black entrepreneurs have less access to capital, education and growth opportunities. They are also underrepresented in stores. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, only 6 percent of U.S. retail businesses are black-owned, although black Americans represent 14 percent of U.S. adults.

Black owned businesses have also been disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration. That’s why we’re committing $150 million over the next four years to help thousands of black-owned businesses reach hundreds of millions of customers and become successful sellers on Amazon. Third-party sellers on Amazon (almost all small and medium businesses) represent around 60% of product sales in our store and are poised to see record sales growth in 2020. We want more black-owned businesses to enjoy this success.
