Understanding the Science Behind the 5-Minute Posture Routine Before we dive into how to grow taller, let’s first do a quick overview of the routine. This will help you understand the science behind it. If you look at the most common sitting positions, you can see how certain joints lock up in poor posture. In order to improve our posture and relieve stiffness, we want to look for exercises that not only move these joints in reverse, but also strengthen the weakened muscles that are needed to hold the joints in their permanent position. For example, if our head is stretched forward most of the time, we will benefit from an exercise that reverses this movement and trains the deep neck flexors that pull the head back. We apply this concept to the three most common problem areas that most affect your height – the back, shoulders and neck. How to get taller by focusing on your back Let’s start by focusing on your back. Exercise 1: Chest rotation The first exercise helps you improve your ability to rotate the middle of your back. Depending on how you sit, it can be stiffer in the upper back or lower back. I’ll show you how to set up your form to find the hardest area. Here’s how to get taller with chest curls: First, get on all fours and tilt your hips back toward your heels. Place one hand in front of you and the other behind your neck. Next, lower your elbows toward the floor and while following your elbows with your eyes, swing your elbows up into the air as far as you can. Exhale as you turn your elbows up and press them into the floor with your hands planted. Hold the top position for a short time. Then come back for more reps before moving on to the next page. Over time, try to rotate your elbow more and more. Well, the closer the bottom is to the heels, the lower you feel the movement in the spine. So try it first with your hips over your heels like you just did, but then try it with your knees half bent and then your knees at 90 degrees to work higher and higher in your back. You want to focus on the area that feels the tightest. How many repetitions and sets should you do? Don’t worry, at the end of this article we will show you the complete “How to Get Higher 5 Minute Routine”. So just focus on form for now. Exercise 2: Cobra Pose Next, we focus on stretching the back out of a rounded position and strengthening some of the back muscles. This exercise is an excellent choice for this purpose, because if you go joint by joint, the entire body rotates almost completely in this stretch compared to the typical sitting position. But it’s important to take extra care of your form so your back doesn’t get worse. Here’s how to get taller with cobra pose: Lie on your stomach with your feet hip-width apart. Point your toes down and place your hands at your sides, just below your shoulders. Next, contract your quads so your knees come off the ground, then pull your shoulder blades down and back. From there, think about moving your upper body forward and up using your mid back muscles. Try to at least lift your chest off the floor, but only go up as far as it feels good and pain-free. Hold the top position for a second or two, then lower. Note that you are not moving up by pressing your arms. Your arms are simply there for stability. When done correctly, you should be able to feel your core and lower back lifting your upper body. Try to expand higher and higher over time. Guys, before we get to the shoulders, I want to stress that while these exercises may look easy when I do them, it took me a long time to improve my range of motion to get to this point. Many of you will find it challenging if you try it, so don’t worry if your shape doesn’t look like mine yet. To help put this into context, here are a few
