Grand Opening Ideas For Hair Salon

Grand Opening Ideas For Hair Salon – From babies to work anniversaries to graduations, every occasion deserves a celebration; Why should opening your new salon be any different? “A grand opening party introduces your salon to the public and sets the tone for your business,” explains Gabriella Figueiredo Santos, director of operations at Varnish Lane Salon in Washington, DC. Additionally, the party will give you and your staff an opportunity to build relationships with potential clients.

The good news is that throwing a party doesn’t have to be a chore. A surefire option is to hire a party planner to make sure your event runs smoothly. If a party planner isn’t in your budget, don’t worry—planning a party has never been easier thanks to DIY-friendly sites like Pinterest and Instagram. All it takes is a little organization. Your best bet? “Keep it simple, but be creative,” advises Figueiredo Santos. “Engage your employees so they feel committed to improving the overall party experience.”

Are you ready to start planning? To help, we’ve tapped three salon owners and a marketing strategist to share their secrets for creating an effective ad. Here are their top tips and tricks, as well as budget-friendly ideas to ensure your fabulous party is a success.

Proven Salon Marketing Ideas To Grow Your Client Base

Before you open your doors to the public, Tran Wills, founder of Base Coat salons in Denver and Los Angeles, recommends having a soft opening for friends and family to iron out any concerns. Your next order of business is to set a date and time for your grand opening that will work best for your ideal customer. For example, if most of your customers are working women or young millennials in the business world, host your party on a Saturday afternoon. Or, if you’re catering to a lot of stay-at-home moms, a weekday or afternoon meal might be best.

The first thing to remember during the planning process: Your party should not eat up the initial costs of the salon. Determine the exact amount you can spend on the event, then create a spreadsheet and allocate specific amounts to each expense (ie decorations, invitations, catering, etc.). Update your spreadsheet every time you pay your vendors to avoid overspending.

The best way to keep costs to a minimum? “Partner with local businesses like bakeries, coffee shops, and florists,” suggests Melissa LeMay, business educator and salon strategist. “While certain businesses may not be able to exchange services at this time, they may be interested in future partnerships and can help you spread the word about your event.”

Your budget will also give you a realistic number of guests you can host without breaking the bank. “Invite customers in your area, like-minded businesses, local community groups, journalists and influencers,” suggests Wills. For example, since Base Coat prides itself on being environmentally conscious, Wills invited other health and wellness-focused businesses (think: yoga studios, juice bars, and plant-based restaurants).

When it comes to writing invitations, Wills recommends hiring a graphic designer to make sure they look clean, fresh and professional. He also recommends sending invitations in person, rather than relying on a PR firm or a general email blast. “People want to see the face behind the brand,” insists Wills. “When they know you, they’re more likely to help you.”

While fancy party themes are fun, staying true to your brand should be a priority. “Knowing what you want to achieve and how you want your guests to feel about your salon is important,” emphasizes Dave Crisalli, founder and CEO of Prose Salon, based in Arizona and Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Choose decor that complements the decor of your salon, from colors to artwork and furniture. There are many budget options that will instantly decorate a room, such as flower arrangements, large plants, balloons, chalkboard signs, string lights and letter boards. Also, consider incorporating the theme of your salon into the smallest details, such as candles, napkins, tablecloths and music.

When it comes to catering, choose light and easy-to-eat snacks that complement your salon environment. “Hospitality boards, pasta salads, bruschetta, and rosé or bubbly champagne are great for high-end salons,” suggests Crisalli. Want something lower? Choose from a dessert bar, chips and dips, vegetarian dishes and craft cocktails. If possible, offer several attractive signature items in your salon. For example, rent an ice cream truck and dress your destination in your salon’s colors, or create cocktails that highlight your services, such as a lemon drop martini to match your citrus-themed pedicure.

When planning any party your main goal should be to entertain your guests from the moment they walk through the door. “Create different stations that keep your visitors moving and engaged,” suggests LeMay. Try a polish try-on station, photo booth, retail display or mini-manicure station to help guests get to know your staff. LeMay also suggests hosting a giveaway or contest to make sure your guests stay until the end. “People love to win prizes, so a drawing is a great way to bring people to your event,” he explains.

An easy way to make a lasting impression is to give party favors. “Give your guests little gift bags with your salon’s colorful candies, branded coffee mugs, product samples, or $5 gift cards to encourage them to come back to your salon,” advises Crisalli.

If you decide to personalize your fancy party experience, the key is to give your guests a great experience that they’ll want to share with their friends. “Remember, the success of an event is not about serving expensive champagne or spending money,” stressed Crisalli. “It’s in the warmth and hospitality of the people behind the business.”

It would probably be nice to throw a party for you and your employees, but save that for another time. Your launch party should be for the people you want to learn about your new business. Invite other local businesses and media. You also want to invite potential customers to the party. If you like, you can host a private event for other professionals before opening the party for your other guests. This will give you time to network and receive professional compliments first.

Of course, you can also open the party to the general public and decline the official invitation. If you decide to open the party to the public, ask your guests to RSVP before a certain date so you know how many people will be coming.

It’s important for new salons to find creative marketing solutions for their grand opening, but creative marketing solutions don’t have to cost a fortune to solve a problem. Promotional products or gifts are one of the cheapest and practical solutions that will increase your brand awareness. Some great gifts include personalized lanyards, stickers, enamels and bracelets. You can add your logo or other attractive images to these custom products. In addition to distributing to customers, salon staff can also wear these products; for example, bright colored streams will add color to the main opening and increase awareness.

It’s not a party without refreshments! Make it easy to save time and money. No one expects a fun house party to have a full meal, but make sure there’s something for your guests to snack on. You can offer your party guests finger foods, such as vegetable or fruit trays, or hire a chef to take the stress away. Make simple drinks too. Serve champagne or wine to your guests and don’t let anyone overdo it. This is party time, not kindergarten!
