I think the best option is not to worry about monthly expenses for the first three months and get an average balance of $15,000 (you can lose $12.5 a month in interest compared to a 1% checking account) or deposit $2,500 a month in a connected Bank. American business credit card.

There is a community donation of $200 with minimum requirements. I don’t recommend signing up for merchant services (merchant services can’t accept card payments. I’m not sure what the payment structure is and I think it creates a tax liability) for bank account bonuses to unlock the big bonus. This account is actually $300. This requires opening a business credit card, but you still get the sign-up bonus on that card. The best option would be the Alaska card with the 30,000 bonus miles.
It’s a shame this requires logging into branch and merchant services to get the full $500 bonus. If you live near a branch and plan to open a business credit card in the near future then this is a better deal than the public offer otherwise I’d stick with it. Note that Bank of America business credit cards do not report on your credit reports. This is useful for anyone trying to stay under 5/24 on Chase cards. Bank of America is running what appears to be a targeted promotion for new business accounts offering up to a $750 bonus with very simple requirements. This deal has been around since June, but it just appeared on my wife’s account in the last few days and is valid until 9/30/21.

The good thing about this checking account bonus is that it’s very easy: deposit money within 15 days of opening the account, leave it there for 60 days, collect a nice bonus and get Bank of America Preferred Rewards gold status (nice. ) because that withdraws the amount of the month without meeting the requirements).
Although the offer seems to be targeted, I have seen several data points of people who received a bonus despite not being targeted. YMMV – obviously there’s a chance it won’t be honored if you’re not directed.
I did this bonus last year, I deposited $20K for 60 days and immediately got my $500 bonus (see my 2020 Bank Bonus post for more information about the bonuses I did last year). This time my wife will be happy to open an account and get a simple bonus (we often move our emergency fund to get new bonuses like these). I love that this year they added the Preferred Rewards Gold Business Benefits category right off the bat because it means a 25% bonus on business credit business earnings. A Business Cash Rewards card would be best in Platinum Honors status, but even at Gold level there is a 3.75% card in your choice of Gas Station (Standard), Office Retail, Travel, TV/Telecom & Wireless, Computer Services or Business Consulting services ( up to $50K per calendar year). I’m not sure if it will be the most important for us now given all the big bonuses in the market, but since the Preferred Gold process is good for 12 months, it might work at some point during that time. At least 12 months of Gold Tier benefits means no monthly maintenance fees (which can be avoided with a minimum average balance, deposit or debit card activity, but with Gold status we avoid the need to worry about that).
Remember that you must open an account by September 30 and pay within 15 calendar days. We’ve seen this offer a few times before, so there’s a chance this will be expanded or targeted to a new group in the coming weeks.

The fine print notes that the offer is “only available to customers who receive this offer through direct contact with a Bank of America Small Business Specialist or from Bank of America communications.” Looking at our previous posts, it is not clear to me if this will be enforced. Three students were recently awarded this $500 gift either before or after logging into their Bank of America account. One of them had a long string of numbers attached to the URL in the request that appeared after logging in, so that’s probably the “direct contact” intent of the offer. You may also be able to get this offer from a Bank of America business specialist at a branch, it would be worth making an appointment before you leave.
I don’t see the $20,000 duration requirement. That said, I will probably send the funds towards the end of the 60 days, and leave them there until the 60 days of account approval, to avoid doubt. . Then I withdraw $17,000 and leave $3,000 in the Fundamentals account to avoid a monthly charge until the bonus is posted. There is no early termination fee for the account.
Maybe it will be worth depositing $20k in cash or in a branch to avoid doubt.
